The majority of soapstone comes from Brazil, a lesser amount from India.  I’ve been told that distributors across the country purchase slabs from the same Brazilian quarries and then give them their own names.
Dorado has Minas, Anasazi, Beleza, Brazilian Duro, Porto Alegre, Cabo, and Sao Luis.
M.Teixeira has Santa Rita Venata, Julia, Cobra, Piracema, Belvedere, Barroca, Anastacia, and Rainforest green.
Other names given to soapstone are IceFlower, Green Mountain, Sensa, PA Original, Black Sea, and Mariana (which is actually the region in Brazil where much of the stone is quarried)
